Phone Line

Your business phone line in one place. Who is waiting for a text back and for how long, the calls to return, what callers asked for, and the appointments and prices that came up.

The cabinet opens on it: Phone line.

What you get

  • Who is waiting: everyone who texted and has no answer yet, longest first, with what they want in a few words.
  • Texts: every conversation, with search and filters (Waiting for you, Customers, All). Open one and Cabinet's draft is already in the reply box. Change it, press Send.
  • Calls: missed calls to return, voicemails with what was said, and a line on each call.
  • Appointments and quotes that came up in texts and calls.
  • Ideas: plays like "Text everyone who missed a call today". Ask once, or switch one on for every morning or every Monday.

Getting started

  1. In Phone line, press Connect Twilio. You copy two keys from Twilio's first page and paste them. It takes about 3 minutes, once.
  2. Your texts and calls show up within a minute. Every morning at 7, Front Desk reads the new ones: names, what people want, and reply drafts.

Until then, the app shows a made-up dental office, and says so.

Good to know

  • You need a Twilio account with a phone number. Twilio charges for its number (about a dollar a month) and for each text and call (about a cent a text).
  • Nothing is sent without you. The morning read only writes drafts; a text goes out when you press Send, or when you say yes in the chat.
  • Cabinet reads calls, it doesn't answer them. Calls that come in show who called and whether anyone picked up. A voicemail or a recorded call shows what was said when your Twilio number records it.
  • Twilio works in Cabinet on your computer. It can't be connected in Cabinet in the cloud.
  • Tell Front Desk who a number is ("the number ending 0133 is our parts supplier") and it keeps that in your preferences.
