SharePoint Digest

SharePoint keeps every file. This shows the few that changed for you, and which copy is the real one.

Every weekday at 8, your librarian reads all your sites and opens on one page:

  • The shelf: every file that changed since yesterday as a book on a shelf, by site, and the ones that touch you lit. "64 files changed since yesterday. 8 touch you." Every number is counted from SharePoint.
  • Your files, changed by others: files you made or worked on that someone else saved, who, and how many times. SharePoint does not tell you this; this does.
  • Rows with your name: open rows in your SharePoint lists that name you (assigned to you, owner, approver), from every site, late ones first.
  • Open to anyone: your files that anyone with the link, or a guest from outside the company, can open.
  • Which one is real: look-alike files in one folder ("v2", "FINAL", "Copy of"), with the newest marked, even when it is not the one called FINAL.
  • Your sites and News on your sites: what moved where, and the posts you missed.

Ask anything about your files in the box at the bottom ("Where is the newest price list?"), try an idea ("What changed in my files?", "Hand over my files"), and arrange the page your way with Layout.

To start

Open My files and press Connect SharePoint. Sign in with Microsoft, with your work or school account (SharePoint is only for work and school accounts). The first reading takes about a minute and shows you what it finds as it reads. Until then the page shows a made-up company, clearly marked.

Some companies keep lists, sharing or site news closed to apps. Then your files are all there and the page says what is missing.

It only reads

It never changes, moves, renames, shares or deletes a file, and never touches who can open one. Links open SharePoint, where you decide.

Inside

  • My files: the app this cabinet opens on, and what you told it about your work.
  • Librarian: the agent. Reads your SharePoint, writes the page, answers in the chat.
  • Morning files: the routine, every weekday at 8.
  • Reports: one page per morning.
